Step 3. Instagram Authorization

To connect Instagram, you’ll need:

  • an Instagram business account;
  • a Facebook Business Portfolio;
  • your organization’s Facebook page, to which your Instagram account is linked.

Switch your Instagram account to a professional account. Go to your profile → Settings & Actions (the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner) → Account Type and ToolsAccount Type“Switch to a professional account.” When switching, specify the main category for your account—it’s important not to select the “Personal Blog” or “Author” categories.

Create a Facebook Page. If you don’t already have a business page on Facebook, create one through your personal profile: go to the “Pages” section → “Create.” Fill in all the required fields—after that, your business page will be ready to use. If you don’t have a business portfolio, the system will notify you of this when you create the page.

Connect Instagram Business to your page. Switch to your organization’s page profile, then go to “Settings & Privacy”“Permissions”“Linked Accounts” → select Instagram. Authorize your Instagram account and confirm the connection.

Set up your Facebook account. Go to business.facebook.com and fill out the details for your Facebook Business account, verifying it if necessary.

Allow access to messages. In the Instagram app, go to your profile → the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner (Settings & More) → "Interactions with You""Messages and Story Replies""Message Requests" folder → toggle on "Allow Access to Messages."

Connecting your page in Message.Help

Click the “Continue with Facebook” button on the authorization page and select:

  • the desired Facebook account;
  • business portfolio;
  • your organization’s page;
  • an Instagram account.

Grant access to the Message.Help app—all permission checkboxes must be selected.

Once connected successfully, the channel status will change to “Authorized.”

Common connection errors

The page did not link to the project. If the connection did not complete after selecting the page in the final step, go to your Facebook page settings → “Linked Accounts”Instagram and check if you need to reconfirm the link.

The Facebook page does not appear in the selection list. Go to your organization’s homepage and check if there are any advertising restrictions from Meta. If such restrictions exist, connecting the channel will be unavailable until they are resolved.
